What to Do If Your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi Network Isn’t Available

If your camera is unable to connect to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi or a dual-band Wi-Fi network (2.4GHz + 5GHz), and you know that the camera only supports 2.4GHz Wi-Fi, here are several troubleshooting steps to help you resolve the issue.

1. Check if the 2.4GHz Network is Enabled

  • Use a smartphone or computer browser to visit the router’s IP address (e.g., 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1). Enter the username and password (usually found on the back of your router or in the manual) to log in to the Router’s Management Interface.
  • Navigate to Wi-Fi Settings and ensure that the 2.4GHz Wi-Fi band is enabled. If it is disabled, enable it and save the settings.

2. Separate SSIDs for 2.4GHz and 5GHz Bands

  • To avoid automatic switching between bands, create separate SSIDs for the 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks in your router settings. Example: Set the 2.4GHz network name as “Home_WiFi_2.4” and the 5GHz network name as “Home_WiFi_5”.

3. Reboot Router and Reset Camera

  • Sometimes, a simple reboot can resolve connectivity issues. Unplug the camera and router, wait for 10-15 seconds, and then plug them back in.
  • Reset the camera and reconnect the camera to the 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network.

Notes:

  • If you’re not familiar with router settings, ask a tech-savvy friend or family member to help you troubleshoot and configure the router.
  • If you’re unable to resolve the issue through the router’s interface, it might be helpful to reach out to your ISP for further assistance.
  • Double-check that you are trying to connect to the correct 2.4GHz network (and not the 5GHz network by mistake) for proper configuration.
