In November, Wyze officially released a new generation of smart doorbells – Wyze Wireless Video Doorbell Pro.
It is reported that this is very suitable for the U.S. market of low-power doorbell products; with a super wide-angle lens, you can clearly see the parcels on the ground, while the high sensitivity of the PIR sensor plus the AI alarm function to accurately detect abnormalities in front of the door, it is worth mentioning that the ultra-low Bluetooth keep-alive power consumption to do a charge can be used for six months.
The Wyze smart doorbell project is a major milestone for Yoosee, as it opens the first leg of the North American market and declares war on low power consumption. For this reason, we conducted an interview with Huang Lin, the product manager of Wyze Smart Doorbell, and discussed the opportunity of cooperation, product definition, low-power technology, team growth and other aspects of the project.

About the cooperation opportunity
Huang Lin: The first time I learned about Wyze was at the end of 18 years ago, when I saw the promotional movie of Wyze Small Square and found it very amazing! In mid-19, Wyze approached us for commercial cooperation, and we decided to seize the opportunity. Mr. Chen traveled to the U.S. to visit Wyze’s headquarters, and after several rounds of proposal discussions, the doorbell project was finally finalized.
About the product definition
Lin Huang: In this project, we are responsible for the product definition of the doorbell, the realization of the function, including hardware, embedded, APP plug-in, and PTZ full-stack development, as well as the mass production of the product manufacturing output.
Of course, we encountered a lot of challenges during product development.
1, the first is the language barrier, the customer many engineers and technicians are U.S. local employees, often technical product communication meetings have to use English, meetings have to focus 12 minutes of attention to listening and understanding, a project down to English understanding and expression to enhance a lot;
2, followed by differences in market habits, the main role of doorbell products in the United States is security, focusing on the need to identify suspicious people close to the door and check whether the home package was stolen; the product features often also have to be centered on these two points, while the domestic doorbell is more communication, the differences in the scene on the definition of the product features will also bring a lot of obvious differences;
3, the doorbell category can refer to not many mature products, belong to the popularization stage, maturity is not high enough, but the competition is fierce categories
4, the specification requirements are polished to the extreme, from system power consumption, PIR performance, system startup speed, leakage false alarm filtering mechanism, connection wake-up success rate, and user experience, each of which has precise data indicators, the main chip performance to the extreme;
About Low Power Consumption Technology
Huang Lin: We all know that the more energy a cell phone has (that is, the larger the battery), the longer the use time. Therefore, the most direct purpose of low-power time is to improve the usage time of battery-powered electronic products.
For example, cell phones, now “charge for five minutes, talk for two hours,” is already a standard. If it’s “charge for two hours, talk for five minutes,” the scene is unbearable to watch.
This product is the first to use Bluetooth & WiFi dual base station indoor machine, on the one hand, to expand the WiFi signal coverage, to solve the problem of poor WiFi signal at the door of the user’s home scenario, and at the same time, with the help of Bluetooth narrow-band communication technology, will be the outdoor doorbell live communication commands through Bluetooth, to achieve the ultra-low Bluetooth live power to achieve a single charge can be used for six months.

Lin Huang: This project is a great inspiration for me personally and for our team!
Personally, I saw how an explosive product-building team, from product selection, feature selection, performance achievement, results acceptance, and production control to the market release of the whole process of participation and control to our product development thinking, had brought a lot of impact and shock.
For the team, this project also let us see the inadequacy of our team’s experience and a lot of process details, technical indicators, and verification methods that we had not paid attention to in the past. It is also the challenge and review again and again that let us grow up quickly!
This project is our first battle towards North America, and it is also the most important battle of our low-power product line, which pours our whole team’s efforts and expectations. I hope, and have confidence, to make this product become a classic explosive!
